DESCRIPTION:This year’s Advocacy Summit will stretch over two days — Monday\, June 10 and Tuesday\, June 11\, 2019 \nThere will be breakout sessions\, a reception honoring Bread founder Art Simon\, and a dinner and legislative briefing on Monday\, June 10. \nThe following day\, on June 11\, a morning gathering and breakfast will take place ahead of Capitol Hill visits with members of Congress. \nThe day will end with an evening reception\, including awards given out to legislators\, and a worship service where participants can share with others about their day. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served at the reception. \nTo learn more about what happens at the Advocacy Summit\, read about last year’s event here. \nThis year’s theme is “Better Nutrition\, Better Tomorrow.” The theme is the same as the 2019 Offering of Letters\, which is focused on urging Congress to pass legislation that will accelerate progress on global nutrition. School districts that are still on fence on whether to adopt for the 2019-2020 school year will need to decide by June 28\, 2019 (note: by statute\, the deadline to apply is June 30\, 2019\, but this year the 30th falls on a Sunday; contact your state agency for clarification). This webinar will feature policy experts and a school district staff who operating community eligibility. The webinar will cover important considerations about adoption\, such as community eligibility’s relationship with Title I and state education funding\, strategies for increasing school meal participation and boosting your budget\, and tips for marketing your program to families.
