Signing this letter, adding your name to more than 1,200 other religious groups, service providers, policy experts, unions, civil rights and community groups sends a message: It shows Congress that there are numerous, well-organized constituents who do not want Medicaid, Medicare, the Affordable Care Act, SNAP, SSI, housing, child care, and so many other vital programs to be slashed.

Perhaps most important, it sends a message to the Senators whose votes are essential if we are to block an unprecedented effort to weaken services low-income people need. It tells them they can count on us to be united and determined to protect the services people depend on. Already, pressure is being felt and forcing some members of Congress to step back from the reckless approach of repealing ACA with no replacement in sight. The letter will exert pressure about many urgently needed services.
